DONATIONS AND BEQUESTS

Donations

Tax deductible gifts to the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library make it possible for us to provide programming including our popular Senior Exercise Class and 40 Days of Summer, purchase compelling books and DVDs, offer public computer and wireless internet access, a comfy ambiance where friends can meet or just catch up on the latest newspapers and magazines.

TPL has a great team of employees working to grow our collection, provide thoughtful customer service, and develop community programming.

We have two endowments helping to support operating costs and collection developments at TPL. Though generous, the endowments are no longer able to cover operating costs entirely and are supplemented by the town for which we are extremely grateful. The endowments and town funds cover the basics. Gifts to the Friends of TPL provide the extras, such as the Community Conference Room for meetings, programs, and research in our reference collection, Kindles, books for our book groups, seating for library-sponsored events, insurance and licensing for programming and the ability to offer our exciting summer program for children called 40 Days of Summer.

Your support plays a critical role in helping Friends of the TPL enrich the level of service TPL provides to Thomaston, surrounding peninsular communities and our summer friends. We hope that you will be able to support our mission.

Bequests
If you would like to make a bequest to the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library to insure that your library will continue to be a viable part of the Town of Thomaston, there are two ways to make a bequest as part of your planned giving arrangements.

  • If you have a will in which you have stipulated beneficiaries, contact your estate planner or lawyer and let them know you would like to add the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library as one your beneficiaries and the amount (either a percentage or a fixed amount).

  • If you would like to make a gift from an insurance policy, stock or bond asset manager or trust fund, contact your insurance agent or funds manager and ask them for a beneficiary form so that you can make the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library a beneficiary.
