Due to rising operational costs, the Thomaston Public Library Board of Trustees recently made the difficult decision to raise the yearly fee for library cards for individuals who do not live or own property in Thomaston. The last time these fees were changed was over 20 years ago in 2003 when they were raised from $12 to $15. As of January 13, 2026, non-resident fees will be as follows:
- $20 per year (can be used by multiple members of the household if needed)
- $18 per year if over age 55
- $10 for six months (if visitors are staying for 2 weeks or longer)
As always, RSU 13 or Knox County students 18 or under are eligible for library cards at no charge (signature of a parent/guardian on a youth library card application is required), as are teachers and Coastal Senior College students. If you are a non-resident who would like a library card but are currently experiencing financial hardship, please speak to a member of the library staff. We are here to help!
