The Intergenerational Book Club meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2:30 pm, in the main reading room. The current year’s book selections are listed below. Bookmarks with the current list are also available at the circulation desk. The library has a copy of each book and additional copies are available through interlibrary loan.

History of IGBC:

In October 2010 a group of Thomaston Library staff and volunteers joined several Georges Valley High School teachers to create an intergenerational book club called Bookwomen Unite! The group met both at the Library and at the high school and received financial support to purchase books that would encourage young women to join older women in discussions of both teen and adult titles. When the school populations in RSU 13 were redistributed in 2011, the group evolved into the Intergenerational Book Club. On the third Tuesday of every month, the Intergenerational Book Club, a group of men and women of all ages from Thomaston and from surrounding communities, comes together at the library to share their opinions and ideas about the book selection. Titles include Fiction, Biography and other non-fiction, Maine authors and subjects, adult and young adult levels. All are welcome to join.

The Mystery Book Club was born out of a shared love of the mystery genre among many of the members of the Let’s Talk About It Book Club. Everyone is welcome to join, and it meets on the first Thursday of every month at 2 pm. For more information,  contact the library at library@thomastonmaine.gov.

The Pop-Up Book Club began as a limited series book group meeting outside at the library’s gazebo during the summer  at Thomaston Public Library to celebrate fun “beach reads” with delicious treats and informal discussion. We were having such a great time when the weather turned cold that we brought the group indoors (minus the snacks because of COVID) and continued! We meet on the third Thursday of every month.
