Friends of Thomaston Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. It's mission is to support the goals, financial health, and programming of the Thomaston Public Library.


The Friends is a voluntary organization, which raises money in a variety of ways.

  • Bakes Sales
  • Sale of books at our Hallway Bookshop and at Camden National Bank
  • Special Events
  • Friday Night Movies


Special events that have been sponsored by the Friends include:

  • Poetry Reading by 2015 Pulitzer Prize winning poet Gregory Pardlo
  • Friday Night Films with Erica Pfander
  • Summer movies on the Thomaston Green
  • 40 Days of Summer children's program


In recent years, funds raised by the Friends have helped to provide the following for Thomaston Public Library:

  • Computers and Kindle readers
  • Outdoor and indoor speaker systems
  • Heat pumps for the Academy building
  • Furniture
  • Assistance with the Library's operating expenses




We welcome anyone who is interested in joining a group of dedicated volunteers to support the Thomaston Public Library. Our quarterly meetings are open to all who might want to get involved.
